Improve Posture with Chiropractic Care:

Over time, poor posture habits can have long-lasting and harmful effects on your body. For example, slouching when you’re sitting or standing can lead to back pain, neck pain, and even cause spine curvatures. Maintaining as close to perfect posture as possible is an important part of keeping your body healthy and mobile.

After years of developing what may be poor posture habits, many people are unaware that they have less than ideal posture. How they sit and stand seems normal to them, and altering those habits can be uncomfortable when attempt to improve their posture. Chiropratic treatment will help realign the body to its natural state and help make maintaining good posture easier and more comfortable.

One of the best ways to see how your natural posture compares to perfect posture is by looking in a full-length mirror and comparing your natural habits with correct form. Compare what you see in the mirror with the following good posture habits.

When looking at your body from the front, your shoulders should be even with each other and your head and neck should be straight. Additionally, the area between your arms and your chest should be equal on both sides. For the lower half of your body, your hips should be level on both sides, your knees should be facing straight ahead, and your ankles should be straight.

When looking at a side view (it may be easier if you have someone take a photo for you), your head should be help up high and straight. Your head should not be leaning backward or forward. Your chin should be level with the floor and not tilted. Your shoulders should be in line with your ears and not pulled too far back or slouched forward. Your stomach should be flat and your knees should be straight.

The lower back is one of the most important parts of your body when it comes to mobility. When viewing your body from a side view, there should be a slight curve forward in the lower back. This part of your back shouldn’t be straight or have too prominent of a curve.

Improving your posture isn’t just a matter of looking at your body in a mirror and attempting to develop better habits. It’s something that you’re going to need to work at over time. If you have poor posture, you have likely spent years developing bad habits and it will take time to improve. However, by remaining committed to making changes that improve your posture, your body will feel better and you will be able to use it better too. Chiropractic care can help realign your body and make developing better posture habits easier, but here are a few other things you can do to help promote good posture and better overall health.

Aside from making your body look better on the outside, good posture also makes your body feel better. People who engage in good posture habits carry less tension in their muscles, experience less pain, move better, and develop more strength.
